Children will learn to read whether you teach them or NOT.
You shouldn't read to your child while, it's in the womb.
Reading to your children before they are old enough to read wont matter.
Those are all Myth's
Now what about these.
You should read to your "belly" so your baby will know your voice and learn to love reading.
You should read to your children and grandchildren before they are old enough to read.
They will NOT learn to read without being taught.
Those were all Truths.

I am always surprised to hear people tell me the Myths as if they really believed them. They say them to me with their head held high, as if it's a FACT. I don't want to be rude but it's hard not to say "ARE you kidding".
My Mother taught me, if I couldn't say something NICE, don't say anything at all.
I am now a Grandma, and holding my tongue is getting harder.
Please EVERYONE, READ to your children. It's a wonderful bonding experience as well as they are learning. Their little minds are like sponges, soaking up every word and hearing. And hearing your voice is so special to them.
Those memories will stay with them forever.
